I know, I’m really pushing the pun-velope. But seriously, even though I adore scarves I’ve never quite known what to do with them. I always felt like they added bulk to my already very prominent chest. So I’m revisiting the reluctance to wear scarves I shared in I’m So Metal I’m Fearless. Thanks to Une Femme D’Un Certain Age‘s wonderful scarf tying tutorials on YouTube I thought I’d attempt to add scarves to my accessories repertoire.
Here I am again at Opry Mills on a movie date, taking my better half to see Iron Man III and mugging for photos at the brand new The Limited store. I found that black denim Cato jacket at my local Goodwill and the white Max Studio eyelet skirt at TJ Maxx. Together they make the perfect canvas for the colorful Ikat scarf from Shi. Ikat is the current trendy pattern and I love the muted tones in this version. I added the colorful bangle from Stein Mart and black and white polka dot Mary Jane flats from Forever 21 to complete the look.
What do you think – did I do a good job? Do you have a favorite way of wearing a scarf?
Linking up with Patti’s Visible Monday fresh from her trip to the Big Apple along with Monday Mingle! More scarf and Art 2Wear talk next time!
Beautiful accessories!! Aren’t scarf tying tutorials amazing…they help so much! You look lovely and always have a gorgeous smile!!
Great scarf (and well tied!). I’ve seriously gotten into scarves in the UK as they’re so useful for the changeable climate and everyone wears them all the time. Because of all the scarf wearing, I rarely wear necklaces now unless it’s reeeally warm (and it’s usually not).
Love your scarf and we adore puns in our home, especially Chloe! This was a great one. I agree about scarves adding bulk, but this didn’t at all – you did a fantastic job and should definitely wear them more often.
We have a video on tying scarves if you’d like to watch it: http://www.popcosmo.com/2012/01/15/10-ways-to-tie-your-scarf/
I especially love the bracelet and the shoes. I mean, those shoes!
I find scarves a real conundrum. I have several beautiful ones, in particular an amazing silk, hummingbird scarf given to me by a Musqueam student, but I don’t know how to wear them. I’d like to wear them in my hair, but they slide off. I’d like to wear them round my neck but… how?
Good on ya for doing it.
This outfit is really cute but what i like best are your polka dot flats
i can’t find them on Forever 21 Canada, too bad, i love and love them!
I adore scarves ! On my blog today as well! I always wrap round once and then a knot or the double loop and through – a creature of habit! This is a lovely colour on you. x
Love the way you tied the scarf and those shoes are great! I’m a scarf addict but not in this hot humid weather we are having.
Fabulous!! That’s a lovely scarf and you’ve done quite a nice arrangement.
I love that gorgeous bracelet and those wonderful shoes.
Great scarf! I have taken to wearing them year round. I need to protect my shoulders from the sun in the summer!
You look great, those shoes, so cute! I love scarves too, unfortunately it is getting a too hot and humid in my neck(ha, another pun!) of the woods to wear them.
Such a cute scarf! Every time I try to wear a scarf, I get all indecisive about how to tie it and I worry I’ll pull an Isadora Duncan.
you did beautifully, and look wonderful! I’ve learned to love scarves, but I only have two ways to tie them : > Thanks for linking up!
Those shoes are a-dor-able!!! Cute, cute, cute.
Yes, yes and yes, you did a fantastic job! The scarfe actually made the entire outfit come together. The two patterns with your scarf and polks dots (on your shoes) adds just the right element of fun and excitement to your ensemble.
I love scarfs and have many and they are normally the longer rectangular version. I always,I mean ALWAYS have one in my handbag and what a life saver they can be especially when Dubai is famous with its blasting AC anywhere indoor. My fave style for winter/colder season is the ‘celebrity’ or the classic European loop and for warmer weather I just use them as wrap. You did well with yours, and the ikat scarf is pretty. Ikat in my native language (where the print is originated) literally means ‘to tie’ and you definitely ‘ikat’ yours fabulously!

I love scarves but I hear you on how they can add bulk to an already bulky area. I have to tie the scarf a certain way so it doesn’t make me top heavy. You tied yours beautifully. Cutest shoes in the universe. 🙂
Absolutely and I love those shoes!
CUTE CUTE CUTE Shoes!! Love the whole outfit–wish we still had a Cato nearby!!
I’m with you about scarfs–i have them but sometimes just feel awkward wearing them. plus–when its warm out I can’t stand anything around my neck when i “Flash”
Wow … your little scarf just sings for you, and it’s as much the pattern and texture with the denim as the color! Sweet looking you … especially with the little polka-dot shoes. Youthful without being too young … springy!
I think the this scarf is perfect with denim and white. Your accessories add an extra pizzaz to this classic outfit. You look sweet and approachable with your smile!
blue hue wonderland
You continue to make me smile with your posts. Love the scarf! I think you figured it out just fine. 😉

Cute puns! I feel the same way about scarves. I should definitely check out those scarf tying tutorials! The scarf looks very nice on you, and I love the bracelet cuff and shoes!
a scarf can work quite well in lieu of handcuffs.
I’m a big scarf lover so I think you wear this so well and the colors are divine! Now I want an Ikat scarf, I don’t have one in my collection. I also love that bracelet on you. Thank you for joining Adrienne and me for the “How I Wear My: Florals” post, it was great to have you with us again! XO, Jill
