This week’s outfit post is brought to you by an undercaffienated, happy accident.
This is what I threw together in anticipation of my annual physical. As most of you know you have to fast for at least six hours before your exam so I was really looking for easy on, easy off. The Mushka by Sienna Rose blouse is several years old from Stein Mart. It was in my annual “edit-worthy” pile and I deemed this the perfect time to give it one last try before sending it off to consignment heaven. I paired it with my trusty Nine West denim and a pair of older brown oxfords by Not Rated – courtesy of Shi, of course. On my way out the door I had a thought. The Ikat scarf from last week’s Ikat Figure This Scarf Thing Out and the top shared a similar color palette. On a whim I looped it around my neck and voila! Pattern mixing at it’s finest! I may actually keep the top. I’m considering having it shortened. What do you think?
Finally, you’ll notice a lovely little purple flower petal ring on my right hand. I purchased it at the Flip Flop consignment shop when I visited with blogger friend Megan for their special event. The chaos behind me is the grand opening of H&M at Opry Mills. Initially I was going to pass on the event but my better half talked me into going. The photo doesn’t even begin to demonstrate how packed the place was. Customers camped out at 1am the night before and waited for the doors to open at noon. All the local news outlets were there and the checkout line was at least 100 people deep. It was surreal.
I didn’t buy anything there, but I did make a purchase elsewhere. I’ll share it with you soon. It’s one of those I wanted so badly to work out I was crushed when it didn’t.
But I’m not ending this week’s post on a down note. This morning I stepped on the scale – just for the hell of it – and I’ve lost 5 lbs! Please picture a happy palsy dance in your heads because that’s what I’m doing.
Then I saw this:
Matthew is my beloved friend who manages the Shi shoe store in Franklin. The young lady who wrote this made my day. Can it get any better than this?
I’m a happy girl today.
Linking up for Visible Monday and Monday Mingle.
You are making a better place for so many and with that smile I am certain, inspiring others. This is my favorite outfit of yours so far….you look happy and gorgeous! It is also a great fit!
You’re so sweet, Pam. Thank you so much!
My first thought was “how wonderful, you’ve lost weight”. I can definitely tell. Yay you!!! Your first picture is an absolute delight. I’d keep the top, not sure about whether you should shorten or not. I had a top on just the other day that was about this same length and I loved that it covered a multitude of sins. Also, adding the scarf was key to tying the outfit together.
Thanks Barbara! I love it when things just fall into place on a whim. As far as the weight loss I had no idea!
I think shortening it would make it a better length and proportion for your body… Congrats on the weight loss, Your enthusiasm in this post is contagious. So indeed you make the world a better place for all!
It’s so funny because I was hungry and thirsty so any enthusiasm you see is likely a result of being happy my physical is over! I tend to agree with you about shortening it.
Blue is loving you today. Your top and scarf mixes beautifully and I think the length is fine. You are an amazing lady, as Pam says,” making the world better for so many.”
blue hue wonderland
Thank you, Ann! I’m trying to get people to see disabled women in a different light. I appreciate your compliments.
You look so happy!!! I think the patterns and scarves are really working for you. I’m tempted to but a scarf myself, now…
Cheryl, I bought numerous scarves to tie around my neck brace after neurosurgery five years ago. I’ve hardly used them since but they seem to be de riguer so I’m pulling them out of storage and trying my luck with them.
Now I see. Not ‘happy memories’ then. Well, extra points for giving them another go!!
You look so happy, love it! The scarf is definitely a good friend to the top. The note would make my day, too : > Thanks for sharing it all with Visible Monday.
Happy 100th VM, Patti and thanks for the compliments!
The scarf and shirt are perfect together!
You could shorten the shirt or you could wear it with 3/4 pants or leggings for the warmer months?
Cheers,
Laura
Thanks, Laura! I think I’ll be shortening the shirt because I’m not tall and fab like you so 3/4 pants make me look stunted LOL.
You are petite and fab!
Great job with the pattern mix! I’d try shortening the top. If you bring it up to hip length, it will look like a peplum and be very on-trend. 😉
Thanks you for complimenting my complete accident! Hip-length is exactly what I had in mind, Pseu. When I sit in my wheelchair it looks even longer but it’s not quite dress length so it’ll get shortened.
An awesome pattern mix! And how exciting to find out there is now an H&M in Tennessee. I do enjoy my few thrifted H&M pieces. They have pretty good design in their stuff. Better than F21 imo.
Definitely hem that blouse! It’s gorgeous. You should keep it.
We’ll have to go together on a weekday morning because it was crazy! I was underwhelmed by their two measly racks for “Plus (XL)” size in a space that had entire sections for maternity, kids, men, and women.
I’ll hem the blouse – but I’ve started a “Flip Flop” bag of items to be consigned.
Hi there lovely!
Great pattren mixing indeed! The top and scarf go so well together!
Hurray for loosing 5 pounds! Yo will think i’m crazy but i have about 5 to loose too!
Menopause! Hard to stay on top of your weight!
Hugs
Ariane xxxx
Thank you Ariane! I foolishly stopped taking my evening primrose oil about three weeks ago and I’ve started getting hot flashes – which I’ve never had before and never want again!
What a great story! I love the top on you and in fact thinks its both slimming and figure flattering. Funny you mention the length, because I think that’s what works well. If you do shorten it, I wouldn’t go much more than an inch shorter. You look radiant in that picture. Congrats on the weight loss, too. Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it. Mwaaaa
Thank, you, dear Alys! I work very hard to stay fit and try to lose weight. It seems blogging is very slimming 😉
I’m now doing the happy dance with you, just because you always seem to make me so very happy. Way to go with the pattern mixing, don’t you just love doing this? Yes, you should keep the blouse and yes, get it shortened a bit, you will then have a whole new blouse.
Thanks, Trina! If I make you happy then I’m getting my point across. I’m definitely keeping the blouse.
Aww! This makes me happy! I love happy fashion accidents and shout outs from strangers! (Also, am I old? It took me a while to figure out s/o was shout out !)
Kimmie, if you’re old then I’m writing this from the grave ;-P
I’m just kind of amazed that an outfit I just threw together is receiving such hhigh praise.
You touch live without even knowing and that’s special. Keep on inspiring, A! Here’s to the fabulous YOU!

You’re so sweet; thank you!
Not only do you look amazing, you are amazing! Keep shining that bright light of yours in the world!
(This is my favorite look you’ve worn so far!)
Thanks, Mary! Maybe I should be sleep deprived and undercaffienated every time I choose an outfit ;-P
Love the outfit–you definitely need to keep the top–I think shortening it a bit will make it more wearable for you!! Love it with the scarf!!
I’m taking the top to my amazing seamstress – thank you, Tamara!
You look GREAT!!! and I love the blouse, keep it and have it shortened a bit. The color scheme is absolutely gorgeous on you!!! Im so proud of you!! You have ALWAYS been an influence in my life, and I thank you for it. Keep your blog going, I love it!!!!
Thank you, honey! You know that goes both ways 😉
that’s a great mixing of patterns.
I amazed myself – thank you! 😉
Fashion accidents sometimes work out for the best! Definitely keep the top! Would look great with leggings too.
Have a great week!

Thanks, Jenny! I need to get some new leggings because mine have gotten too big to wear – but I had the same thought about pairing them with the top.
I like your pattern mixing AND your great big ole smile!
Thank you so much!
Very cool in your patterns … nice, nice combinations. Flattering, too. I sort of like the length, but if you shortened it a bit, you’d have a faux peplum! Maybe take the ruffle off the sleeve, but only to modernize. They look pretty as is … I like a ruffle sleeve!
I like a ruffle sleeve too, Jan. I’m going to shorten the top but keep the sleeves as they are 😉
Pattern mixing perfection! Sometimes spontaneity takes over with a dash of creativity. The top is a keeper and you made my day with the S/O!
The S/O made my day, too, Judith! Thanks for your lovely compliments.
Oh, top resurrection. Good one. Sometimes all it takes is that one piece added on a whim. This little wonderful whirlwind of blues is perfect. Love your ring too.
Thanks, Melanie! I’ll get a better picture of the ring next time I wear it.
Perfect print mixing! Those pieces are fabulous together!
I love pattern mixing! And I love long blouses or tunics (or short dresses) over jeans. Your style makes me smile! –Thanks, Susan
